Getting started

What is Waevo?

Waevo is a live 1-on-1 video chat app for making friends. Tap to go live and you're matched with someone new; if you click, keep them as a friend and DM or video-call them any time. It's strictly for adults (18+).

How do I sign up?

Open the app and sign in with Apple or Google, then confirm your date of birth and gender. You must be 18 or older. You get an auto-generated username so you can stay anonymous until you choose to share more.

Do I need to add a photo?

No. If you don't upload a photo you'll get a colour tile with your initial. Adding a real photo (which is screened on your device before it uploads) helps you show up in suggestions and unlocks seeing other people's extra photos.

Calls & matching

How does matching work?

Tap Go Live and we connect you with another person who's online. Don't like the match? Swipe or tap Skip to move on instantly. A minor can never be matched with an adult — it's enforced in the matching itself.

Can I use filters?

Gender and region filters are part of Plus. Free users meet everyone, everywhere.

How do I add someone as a friend?

During a call, tap Like and add them. Friends appear in your DMs where you can message or start a private video call.

Can I chat by text during a call?

Yes — there's an always-on message bar during live calls, so you can type before or instead of talking. Some people like to build trust with text first.

Safety & reporting

How do I report or block someone?

During a call, tap Report, choose a reason, and confirm. That ends the call, blocks the person, and flags them to our moderation system. You'll never be matched with a blocked person again.

How does nudity screening work?

Every call is scanned for nudity in real time, right on your phone. Explicit video is covered automatically. The screening runs on your device — your camera stream isn't sent anywhere to do it.

What are ratings?

After calls people can give a thumbs-up, which lifts someone's public rating; reports pull it down. A hidden reputation score keeps repeat bad actors away from everyone else.

Your account

How do I change my username?

Go to your profile → Edit → change username. Your first change is free. After that, Plus lets you change it monthly and Max is unlimited.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app → Profile → Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, messages, friends and other data. If you can't access the app, email support@waevo.app from your account email and we'll process it for you.

How do I turn off notifications?

Profile → Settings → Notifications. You can also manage them in your phone's system settings for Waevo.

Subscriptions

What do Plus and Max include?

Plus adds gender & region filters, unlocks seeing everyone's extra photos, and lets you change your username monthly. Max includes everything in Plus, plus no ads, unlimited username changes, and priority matching.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so you manage them there:

iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Waevo.
Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Waevo.

Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the current period ends.

How do refunds work?

Purchases are handled by Apple and Google. Refund requests go through them — for Apple, use reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google, use the Play Store order history.

Referrals

How do referrals work?

Invite a friend with your personal link. When they join as a new member, you both get a free week of Plus. Full details on the referral page.

Troubleshooting

My camera or mic isn't working

Make sure you granted Waevo camera and microphone permission in your phone settings. Then fully close and reopen the app. If a call won't connect, check your internet connection.

I'm not getting matched

Matches depend on who's online right now. If it's quiet, wait a moment or try again later. If you have filters set (Plus), loosening them will match you faster.

I was banned — can I appeal?

If your account was restricted, you can submit an appeal from inside the app. Bans are usually the result of repeated safety violations.
